We set up a small Local Area Network (LAN) at the January 6th, 2022 club meeting.

The “Server” computer was an old Compaq Presario 2200 Notebook running Raspberry Pi OS (originally Windows XP). The first client was a Raspberry Pi 3+ also running Raspberry Pi OS, and the second client was a modern Laptop running Windows 10. The clients connected wirelessly to the NetGear router which was connected to the Server by Ethernet. The server provided a very simple single-page web site that we expanded to 2 pages during the class.

This little Local Area Network was helpful in describing how “the Big Internet” works, and it also demonstrated how a laptop could join different wireless networks (our little LAN or the Park’s WiFi network).
