The club meeting of March 31, 2022 was dedicated to a hand’s on Select, Cut, Copy, Paste Workshop. The basic skills were:
- Select arbitrary text with Click-and-Drag
- Select a word with a Double-Click
- Select a paragraph with a Triple-Click
- Cut selected text to the clipboard with Control+X
- Copy selected text to the clipboard with Control+C
- Paste text from the clipboard with Control+V
These basic skills were practiced on our private network as shown here:

The Server provided a web page interface for practice with cutting, copying, and pasting. Everyone was able to use their own computer:

Text was selected and copied to the “clipboard” from various documents (Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Gettysburg Address). Once on the clipboard, the text could be pasted into the editing window where it could again be selected, copied, or cut (deleted). This particular demonstration also provided an “Update” button to display the contents of the editing window as part of the web page (interpreting it as HTML). This web page interface was perfect for practicing these important editing operations (cut, copy, paste).
