  2. More residents would have gone, but many of us didn’t see the minuscule piece of paper “notice” in the mail tube, until it was too late. 🥺

    • Sorry about the small size this time. You’re right, they were too small.

We usually print about 6 slips per sheet of regular paper (8.5 x11). We print about 360 slips which requires about 360/6 = 60 sheets of paper. We often use a local printing business which requires a day or so of advance notice and costs about $1 per page of color ($60 total).

In this case, Dora and Candace came up with the idea for a party too late to design the slips and get them to the printer. So Dora volunteered her ink jet printer. Color ink jet printers can be both slow and expensive, and we wanted the red stripes on the ends to hopefully stand out and attract attention. So to save Dora’s printing costs and to be kind to Dora’s printer, I decided to increase the slips per page from our normal 5 or 6 up to 10 or 11 (reducing the size to about an inch).

As we passed them out, we realized that they were smaller than we would have liked, but it was too late to change them. We did post the event on this web site, but sadly, only a small percentage of our fellow residents check this web site regularly.

      So what’s the solution?

      1. We will try to make the slips larger in the future.
      2. We will try to encourage more regular participation on the web site.
      3. We should start an email list for resident to resident communication.

In other words, we should all work to improve our ability for residents to communicate with residents. 🙂

I want to thank Dora and Candace for coming up with the idea and for setting up the refreshments. I also want to thank Dora for printing the slips, and I want to thank Candace and Dan for helping me put the slips into every tube. And finally, I want to thank Dan for his great entertainment! And mostly, thanks to everyone who participated!
