A recent notification asked about possible reuse of our shuffleboard court area:
Hello ... Residents,
What would you like to see in place of the old shuffleboard courts in the back area behind the clubhouse?
(Please fill out and return to the office if you would like to participate in this survey)

[ ] A gym?

The shuffleboard courts themselves could use resurfacing, but are not otherwise in bad shape. However, the shade structures and benches are nearing the end of their life.

Several ideas have been suggested so far:
- Update/Replace current shuffleboard courts
- Rent reduction instead of any other expenditures
- Expanded grass area
- Shade structure with benches and tables
- Dedicated (and possibly fenced) dog park area
- Residents-only community garden
Of course, some of these ideas could be combined (such as a dog park with picnic benches and tables). Please feel free to post your own ideas or support any other ideas already mentioned.
Thanks!
When I filled out the form shown in this article, I suggested a residents-only community garden. Standardized garden boxes can be set up, and each assigned to a resident. How they are assigned & for how long needs to be determined. Water can be piped to each box (eg 4’x4′ or 4′ x 8′) to reduce water waste, the boxes can be lined to reduce water and soil runoff, and there you are – a resident can grow what they like (as long as its not an invastive species eg ivy), and benefit from being outdoors, get a little execise, and enjoy the fruit of their effort. There can also be standing boxes for those people in wheel chairs or who can’t bend over easily, thus making the garden accessible to all interested resident – gardners.

Hi Carol,
Thanks for adding another creative new idea!! I think the City of San Diego has set aside some community gardening areas in some of their downtown neighborhoods and they’ve been popular. Thanks for posting!!

When we got the survey, I suggested a gym. I think it would be beneficial to a lot of residents. What was the outcome of the survey? Was a decision made?

That’s another good idea! Thanks.
I haven’t heard any results being announced. Has anyone else heard anything?
