Thanksgiving Day Potluck at the Clubhouse – November 25th and 26th, 2021

We will be holding two pot luck Thanksgiving dinners at the Club House this Thanksgiving:

  • Thursday, November 25th, 2021 from 2pm to 6pm
  • Friday, November 26th, 2021 from 2pm to 6pm

All residents are invited. Please join us!

NOTE: We’ve just been informed that anyone attending will have to sign a COVID-related release form similar or identical to the form used for access to the swimming pool.

Everything will be informal, and I suspect people will be there from 2pm until well after dark. So please feel free to drop by any time from 2pm onward. We will still hold the regular computer club meeting from 4pm to 5pm in the card room on Thursday.

This will be a pot luck dinner, so please feel free to post whatever you might like to bring (see postings below). Hopefully this list will give people ideas on what we’re missing. But please remember that there’s no requirement to bring anything … other than a smile. πŸ™‚

By the way, sorry about any confusion on the dates and times. We were undecided about whether to hold it on Thanksgiving day (for those without other plans) or on the Friday after Thanksgiving (for those who already had a Thanksgiving commitment). So we decided to do both! Please feel free to join us on either day (Thursday or Friday) or both.

Current Pot Luck Dishes (so far):

  • Bob: One Turkey and lots of mashed potatoes (Thursday and Friday)
  • Dora: Candied Sweet Potato (Thursday and Friday if any is left)
  • Candace: Pumpkin Pie and Two Turkeys (Thursday and Friday)
  • Gerry: Green Bean Casserole (Friday)
  • Tina: Corn Casserole (Friday)
  • Claudia: Cranberry Sauce (Thursday)
  • Sue: Green Bean Casserole and Deviled Eggs (Thursday and Friday)
  • Natalie and Edythe: Fruit Salad (Friday)
  • Marge: Jello Salad and Pumpkin Pie (Thursday and Friday)

Update: Thanks to everyone who contributed food and friendship. We ended up eating nearly 3 turkeys and 20 pounds of potatoes in 2 days. And that doesn’t count the sweet potatoes, green bean casseroles, corn casseroles, fruit salads, jello salads, cranberries, pumpkin pies, and apple pies that were shared. We played games, worked on puzzles, watched a bit of the Thanksgiving day parade, and enjoyed some live entertainment from one of our local residents. It was a great time for a couple dozen residents. Thanks to everyone who shared the day!

  1. By the way, someone asked about whether we’ve reserved the Clubhouse. I asked at the office, and I was told that they don’t take reservations, but as residents we’re free to use it during normal hours. That’s perfect since all residents are invited. πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Bob.,
Is the potluck on Thanksgiving day or is it the following Friday? November 26 is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is the 25th. I don’t want anyone coming the wrong day and missing it. πŸ™‚ You mentioned the potluck was on Thanksgiving day.

    • Our intention was to hold it on Thanksgiving day for people who might not have other plans, but it was mis-posted as the 26th rather than 25th. I’ve updated the page, but the confusion might suggest that we can have two events? πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Bob, I hope you could put out some type of flyer as a lot of people in here do not have computers.. Some don’t come out of there homes.. maybe some large signs around of some walkers.. Just a suggestion.

  4. Hi Again Peggy,

Sorry it took us longer to get the fliers out than we expected. We finally got them printed out and cut last night, and we delivered them this morning. We also posted to at least two of the bulletin boards in the club house area.

I hope you can make it one day or the other … or both!!

    Bob

  5. I’m sorry that I can’t make it to either of the two times. I have made other plans, but I’m glad that others can enjoy this. Thanks for doing it.
